What to expect at your smog check

1. We confirm the test your vehicle needs. Bring your DMV notice if you have it; you can still visit without it.
2. We perform the required inspection. The procedure depends on the vehicle and includes the applicable visual, functional and emissions checks.
3. We explain your results. Passing results are submitted electronically to DMV. If your vehicle fails, we explain the reported reason and the next step.

One free retest for 2000-and-newer vehicles

All 2000-and-newer vehicles receive one free retest within 60 days of the initial failed smog check, except on select promotions that exclude it. Exclusions apply; ask us to confirm the policy for your vehicle.

Yes. Our regular weekend hours are 9 AM–6 PM on both Saturday and Sunday. Weekday hours are 8 AM–6 PM. Contact us to confirm holiday hours or availability for a vehicle that needs an appointment.

Can you test my older vehicle, RV or diesel?

We test 1999-and-older vehicles that require an inspection, many RVs and vans, and many diesel cars and trucks. Call or text with the year, make, model and fuel type before your visit. For RVs and heavy trucks, include the size and vehicle weight rating if available.

What should I bring, and how much will it cost?

Bring the vehicle and your DMV renewal notice or registration paperwork if available. Your renewal notice is helpful but isn’t required. Check our current smog coupon, or text your vehicle details for pricing and any applicable fees before coming in.

What happens if my vehicle fails?

We explain the reported reason for the failure and discuss the next step.
